1673 Charles II Silver Crown Vicesimo Qvinto

1673 Charles II Silver Crown Vicesimo Qvinto Obverse

* Images are of the actual product not stock images

A collectable silver Crown of king Charles the Second, dated 1673. The obverse features the third laureate, draped bust of the king facing right, and the reverse shows the crowned cruciform shields around a central Garter Star, the shields representing England, Ireland, France and Scotland. Interlinked Cs appear in the angles of the shields. The raised edge lettering in Latin identifies the regnal year as ‘VICESIMO QVINTO’. Charles’ regnal years are dated from 1649 rather than 1660 when he was restored to the throne. This early milled piece would make an excellent starting point for a new collection, and in lower grades can be purchased without to much difficulty or cost. Spink 3358.
