A collectable hammered silver Halfpenny of king Edward the Fourth from his second reign (1473 to 1483). The obverse of this little coin features the forward-facing bust with a distinctively styled head of Edward IV and has the Heraldic Cinquefoil mint mark, narrowing down the date to the last years of Richard’s reign: 1480 to 1483. The reverse shows the typical quartered shield of arms with trefoil pellets in each quarter. Edward’s reign is divided by Henry VI’s brief restoration in October 1470, which lasted until the battle of Tewkesbury in May 1471 and Henry’s death. Spink 2137, North 1667.
