NGC PF 64 graded 1927 George V silver proof Halfcrown. Obverse: modified version of Sir Edgar Bertram MacKennal's bare-headed royal coin portrait, as used on all of this monarch's British money. Legend: 'GEORGIUS V DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX'. Reverse: quartered shield of royal arms with crowned 'GG' cyphers to right and left. Legend: 'FID · DEF · IND · IMP', divided by national flower emblems (a thistle, a rose and a shamrock) with 'HALF · CROWN · 1927' below. Artist: George Kruger Gray. George V was King of the United Kingdom and the British Dominions as well as Emperor of India from 1910 until his passing in 1936. During George's reign the percentage of pure silver used to strike British coinage was reduced from 92.5% to 50%, following a steep rise in the price of silver. As such this uncirculated 1927 proof coin is composed of .500 Ag and would originally have been part of a commemorative proof set. Weight: 14.14 grams. Diameter: 32.30 millimetres. Mintage: 15,000. Graded PF 64 by the Numismatic Guaranty Company. Offered sealed in holder with Royal Mint label.
