Rare gold trefoil type Celtic Quarter Stater showing a horse, galloping right, with a v shape or bucranium above and annulets below. Associated with Dubnovellaunus or Dumnovellaunus - the name of a king of the Cantiaci or Cantii, of modern Kent. He was the first monarch of this tribe to have issued inscribed coins which date from the latter years of the 1st century BC to about the year 5 AD. Slight banding can be seen to the reverse. XRF metal composition: Au 42.9%, Cu 41.2%, Ag 15.35, Fe 0.5%. Weight: 1.24 grams. Approximate diameter: 10.3-11.2 millimetres. Grade: VF - Rose gold colour with good clear details, no major dinks or scratches: Very Fine and rare. Spink 171, Van Arsdell 170.
