A collectable gold Half Sovereign of King George the Third dated 1820. The obverse features the laureate head of George III, facing right with the date below. The reverse shows the shield of arms representing England, Scotland and Ireland with the centre shield for Brunswick and Luneburg. This new Half Sovereign was part of the re-coinage at the end of the Napoleonic war years, and has a very low mintage with just over 35,000 struck. This coin in good grade with the minor ex-mount damage would make an economical addition to any gold coin collection.
