The obverse of 2025 Sovereigns all show sculptor Martin Jennings' portrait of King Charles III, facing left and uncrowned. The legend around this reads 'CHARLES III · DEI · GRA · REX · FID · DEF ·'.
The reverse of these 2025 coins features a 200-year-old design created by engraver Jean Baptiste Merlen for the 1825 Sovereign in the reign of George IV. A crowned shield of royal arms is surrounded by a legend which reads 'ARMA GEORGII IV BRITANNIARUM REGIS'.
