Collectable, old-style UK Two Pound with a moving dove of peace design. These coins were released by The Royal Mint in 1995 to mark fifty years since the end of the Second World War. Six years of devastating conflict in Europe came to a close on 8 May 1965 - better known as VE Day - with the surrender of Nazi Germany. Later the same year the Japanese Empire also surrendered. The price of peace was high and this £2 commemorates this sacrifice and efforts to prevent future conflicts with a stylised design by John Mills. His dove holds an olive branch in its beak and is accompanied by an edge inscribed with the words ‘1945 IN PEACE GOODWILL 1995’. The heads side of this 1995 coin shows a portrait of Her Majesty the Queen. You won’t find these Dove Of Peace coins in your change these days: they were designed for collectors and have become rare since the UK’s national mint started striking bimetallic £2s. Our stock comes from a mintage of 4,394,566 pieces and are guaranteed to be in good condition. We’ll ship these nickel-brass coins free to UK addresses so now’s a great time to add one to your collection.
