English Oak Tree 1992 One Pound coin, featuring a classic oak tree and royal diadem design on the reverse.

This is the second use of the oak tree motif on a UK coin: this reverse was first seen on 1987 £1 coins. Created by silversmith Leslie Durbin, it is matched with Raphael David Maklouf's definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

  • The edge of these coins reads 'DECUS ET TUTAMEN' ('An ornament and a safeguard')
  • 36,320,487 of these nickel-brass One Pound coins were struck by The Royal Mint in 1992
  • These round £1 coins were issued for circulation but were later demonetised in 2017
