English Oak Tree 1987 UK One Pound coin, featuring an oak tree and royal diadem on the reverse, designed by silversmith Leslie Durbin.

The oak tree represents England in The Royal Mint's rotating series of national emblems for the £1 coin. This design was also used in 1992 £1s and is paired with Raphael Maklouf's definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

  • The edge reads 'DECUS ET TUTAMEN', meaning 'An ornament and a safeguard'
  • 39,298,502 of these round, nickel-brass One Pound coins were struck by the Mint in 1987
  • These 1987 coins were originally issued for circulation but have since been withdrawn
