Celebrate 2016's historic pivot of the UK One pound coin with this set commemorating the past and future of the £1. Included in this Royal Mint release is a last 'Round Pound' alongside David Pearce's Nations of the Crown £1. This early iteration of the now familiar 12-sided coin is complete with a rare mint mark opposite the artist's initials, adding significant collectability to this already special pairing. Two contrasting specifications are present. Firstly, Gregory Cameron's leaping heraldic beasts are struck in 9.50 grams of nickelbrass to a rounded 22.50 millimetre diameter. Enjoyers can compare this to the 8.75 gram David Pearce coin, which holds a bimetallic appearance thanks to nickel plating on the inner ring. Both brilliant uncirculated coins are capsuled in the original Royal Mint wallet, with the special mint mark facing outwards on the floral crown coin. Mark the occasion with this celebration of British coinage's continued innovation.

Future And Tradition Set

Included in this set is a pair of UK coins dated 2016, each holding a different design and specification:

  • Farewell Last Round Pound £1 BU
  • Nations of the Crown £1 BU

Both coins feature an obverse of Jody Clark's Elizabeth II effigy.

Farewell One Pound

The 'farewell' One Pound depicts a heraldic beast symbolic of each UK constituent, each leaping in defence of a central crown. Rev. Gregory Cameron's definitive artwork will be forever be remembered as that which adorned 2016's 'Last Round Pound'.

Nations Of The Crown £1

The baton of holding the definitive £1 design was passed to teenager David Pearce, whose design features on the first release of the modern 12-sided One Pound. The 'Nations of the Crown' utilises floral symbols from across the UK and threads them through the crown. For this special dual release, a unique mint mark is present on the reverse - instantly adding a healthy dose of collectability.

Storytelling Specifications

Two sets of specifications are present. The round coin has a diameter of 22.50 millimetres and weighs 9.50 grams, whereas the 8.75 gram updated version holds a 12-sided 23.03 millimetre diameter. Both coins are comprised of nickelbrass and are struck to the Mint's brilliant uncirculated quality

Royal Mint Presentation

The original commemorative folder is included, which capsules the two £1 coins alongside testimonies from their definitive designers. The Royal Mint's data outlines this is a presentation of only 9,714.
