2022 Strike Your Own Birmingham Commonwealth Games 50p with rare folder featuring sticker over internal error. The Royal Mint Experience offers visitors a chance to strike their own commemorative brilliant uncirculated coins, including this popular Commonwealth Games sporting coin. It features a geometric reverse by Natasha Preece which is inspired by Birmingham Library. This proud design is joined by a patriotic obverse portrait of Elizabeth II by Jody Clark. Specifications adhere to other 2022 cupronickel Fifty Pence pieces, meaning this pre-owned UK coin has a 27.30 millimetre diameter and weighs 8.00 grams. Of keen interest to collectors of quirky and notable coins is the included Royal Mint Experience folder. The original folder included an error: The Royal Mint omitted the 2014 Glasgow Games in claiming the Commonwealth competition had not entered the UK for 20 years. This unique folder has a corrective sticker covering that inner error - the Mint's temporary fix!

2022 Commonwealth Games Obverse

Featuring Jody Clark's definitive effigy of Elizabeth II. Legend reads: 'ELIZABETH II ·  D ·  G ·  REG ·  F ·  D ·  50 PENCE ·  2022 ·'.

Reverse: Birmingham 2022 Strike Your Own

Designed by Natasha Preece. She uses imagery from Birmingham Library alongside the brand of the 2022 Games. Below the aesthetic pattern reads 'BIRMINGHAM 2022 COMMONWEALTH GAMES'.

Specification: Strike Your Own 2022 Games

Struck in 8.00 grams of cupronickel alloy to a brilliant uncirculated standard. This UK Commonwealth Games Fifty Pence also has a 27.30 millimetre diameter.

Royal Mint Presentation: Rare Error

The included folder is an example of the first release of these Commonwealth Games Strike Your Own coins. It holds a factual error indicating the Games had not taken place in the UK for 20 years, despite Scotland's 2014 hosting. The Mint quickly fixed the error, first temporarily and then with a full correction. Only 2,757 of these coins reportedly entered the hands of visitors - and considerably fewer complete with this rare corrective sticker.

Pre-Owned Sporting Strike Your Own

This is a pre-owned BUnc 50p in great condition. The Commonwealth Games Strike Your Own you purchase, which may have a small amount of toning, is reflective in standard to the above images.
