Collectable brilliant uncirculated Five Pound coin from the UK's Royal Mint. The Yeomen Warders were formed in 1485 by King Henry VII and are the oldest existing military corp in the UK. Their principal role is looking after prisoners and guarding the Crown Jewells in the Tower of London, although they also give guided tours and take care of the ravens. To become a Yeoman Warder, an applicant must be retired from the British Armed Forces, served for at least 22 years and be a former warrant officer. As part of a four-part series of £5 Crowns released in 2019 honouring the Tower of London, this design celebrating the Warders was the first. The design, by Glyn Davies, depicts a Yeoman Warder proudly standing in uniform, holding a ceremonial axe. Imposed around the man is part of the architectural plan of the Tower of London and Mint Street. When this BU coin is viewed together with the other three coins in the series, the architectural plans come together to show a complete map of the Tower. An inscription reading 'TOWER OF LONDON' is written below Davies' design. On the obverse is Jody Clark's official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which was used on UK coinage between 2015 and 2023. Your pre-owned limited edition coin is struck twice during production to give a finer finish compared to ordinary circulation coins and comes in its original packaging from The Royal Mint. Specifications are 28.28 grams of cupro-nickel alloy with a diameter of 38.61 millimetres.
