Collectible old-style Dove Of Peace brilliant uncirculated 2 Pound coin from The Royal Mint. 1995 marked 50 years since the end of the Second World War in Europe. Hostilities ceased in on 8 May 1945, better known as VE Day. It saw the formal surrender of Nazi Germany and the end of almost six years of devastating war. To commemorated the anniversary, The Royal Mint released this brilliant uncirculated Two Pound coin with a dove on its reverse - a simple image but universally recognised as one of peace, optimism and calm. This elegant design is the work of John Mills. Accompanying the dove is a message of peace inscribed around the coin's edge reading '1945 IN PEACE GOODWILL 1995', which is a quote taken from Winston Churchill's 'History of the Second World War.' It is joined on the obverse by Raphael Maklouf's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II: the third official effigy used on modern British coinage. This £2 has an attractive, brilliant uncirculated finish which offers a higher level of detail than regular, circulating coins. The fine finish is protected by the original card presentation folder which contains additional information about this historic anniversary.
