Heavy metal meets precious metal in the latest release from The Royal Mint's Music Legends series.

To mark 50 years of Iron Maiden, a new collection of officially licensed UK coins has just launched. The coins feature the band's iconic mascot, Eddie, across a range of gold, silver, and brilliant uncirculated editions.

With exclusive designs, global fan appeal, and astonishingly low mintages, this is one of the most collectable Music Legends launches to date.

Iron Maiden 50th Anniversary

Formed in East London in 1975, Iron Maiden has risen from local pub gigs to become one of the most successful and enduring heavy metal bands in the world. With over 100 million albums sold, record-breaking tours, and a fiercely loyal global fanbase, their influence on music, stagecraft, and metal culture is legendary.

From The Number of the Beast to Senjutsu, Iron Maiden's sound is driven by epic storytelling, dramatic live shows, and a visual identity shaped by their ever-evolving mascot, Eddie.

This new coin collection marks the band's 50th anniversary, offering fans a unique way to celebrate half a century of one of Britain's most iconic musical exports.

The Music Legends Collection

The launch of the Iron Maiden range marks the latest release in The Royal Mint's popular Music Legends series, a collection that celebrates iconic British musicians on officially licensed commemorative coins. Previous releases in the series include Queen (2020), Elton John (2020), David Bowie (2020), The Who (2021), The Rolling Stones (2022), Shirley Bassey (2023), The Police (2023), George Michael (2024), Paul McCartney (2024), and John Lennon (2025).

Music Legends coins are renowned for their strong secondary market performance and creative designs that reflect the artist's legacy and visual identity. The series offers coins in a variety of finishes, from affordable brilliant uncirculated editions to silver and gold proof coins struck in precious metals for maximum impact and value.

With the launch of the official Iron Maiden coins, the series continues to merge the UK's diverse musical heritage with the exceptional quality and artistry of The Royal Mint, making this latest release a standout addition for collectors and fans alike.

Eddie Design By Alberto 'Akirant' Quirantes

The reverse of each coin features a brand-new illustration of Eddie, Iron Maiden's iconic mascot, designed by Alberto 'Akirant' Quirantes, the artist behind many of the band's album covers and tour visuals.

Eddie has been at the heart of Iron Maiden's identity since their 1980 debut, taking on dozens of forms, from futuristic cyborgs to ancient pharaohs. In this new design, Eddie emerges from a graveyard, surrounded by subtle references to Iron Maiden albums and legendary live performances. The inscription 'IRON MAIDEN Est. 1975' ties the artwork to the origins of the band and the milestone anniversary year. The Royal Mint's new Iron Maiden coins feature an exclusive reverse design by Alberto 'Akirant' Quirantes.

These figures are significantly reduced compared to the John Lennon range, released earlier this year. 400 John Lennon 1oz gold coins were issued by The Royal Mint, and the highly sought-after 2020 Queen 1oz gold proof release numbered 350, both several times higher than the tiny 75-coin mintage of Iron Maiden 1oz coins.

These reduced edition sizes, paired with Iron Maiden's massive global following, make this one of the most collectable and competitive launches of the year.
