This is the second design in the popular Queen's Beasts series, which was inspired by a series of heraldic statues designed for Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. Each beast represents a heraldic creature seen on the shields of arms of Her Majesty's royal and noble ancestors. The Unicorn of Scotland is one of the most important of the Queen's Beasts. The horned beasts has been associated with Scotland in heraldry for centuries and is shown in this design by artist Jody Clark chained to a shield bearing the Scottish arms. This pre-owned 999 silver proof coin comes in the original presentation box with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed. Just 6,000 of these Unicorn coins were issued in 2017, and they remain sought-after by collectors looking to complete their Queen's Beasts series.
