1999-2000 Millennium One Pound Silver Proof Reverse Frosted Coin Set

Silver proof One Pound set from The Royal Mint, issued to celebrate the Millennium and featuring two reverse frosted matte proof £1 coins.

Included are the last Pound coin of the 20th century - the 1999 Scottish Lion £1 - and the first of the 21st century: the 2000 Welsh Dragon £1. Both are struck in .925 sterling silver with a non-traditional reverse frosted finish where the devices are shiny, and the surfaces are matte.

• Both designs are from the Heraldic Emblems series and were designed by Norman Sillman
• The obverses both feature Ian Rank-Broadley's fourth portrait of Queen Elizabeth II
• 2,000 of these boxed sets were authorised for issue, but 1,994 were actually issued in 2000
