The 1995 Australian Kangaroo takes a marked shift in aesthetic design, while retaining the 1.00 troy ounce of intrinsic silver indicative of this coin's bullion credentials. Designer Horst Hahne included a detailed portrait of a kangaroo on the reverse, which strays from the previous full-bodied 'bounding' designs. However, in line with the previous iterations, the obverse bears Elizabeth II's definitive effigy by Raphael Maklouf. 1995 Silver Kangaroo Obverse 

The 1995 1oz Kangaroo's obverse holds a profile of Elizabeth II between two inscriptions. The first reads 'ELIZABETH II,' followed by 'AUSTRALIA 1995'. 

Kangaroo Portrait Reverse

Unlike the previous two in the series, Horst Hahne's 1995 Kangaroo reverse design includes only the head of a kangaroo, with fine fur detail. Below the portrait of Australia's national animal reads '1OUNCE FINE SILVER'. Above legend, in larger lettering, says 'ONE DOLLAR'.

The Royal Australian Mint struck the 1995 Silver Kangaroo to its uncirculated bullion finish, sometimes called 'prooflike'. Of note for this collectable release is the frosted field and shiny central devices - in contrast to many examples of the time, and a driver of this aesthetic trend. The 40.00 millimetre $1 coin is minted with 1.00 troy ounce of pure silver, is struck in .999 silver, and has a gross weight of 31.10 grams.
