1990 Scottish Thistle Five Pence Silver Proof Set

1990 silver proof two-coin 5p collectors set from The Royal Mint, featuring an old-style large Five Pence and a new, smaller-sized coin.

The first decimal UK Five Pence coins were designed to be the same size as an old money Shilling, but in 1990, the Mint opted to resize the denomination, issuing smaller, lighter coins and withdrawing the old larger 5ps - an update celebrated with this 1990 boxed set.
