1936 Threepence George V Silver Coin

Historic 1936 silver Threepence, the final 3d issued with a portrait of King George V, engraved by Bertram Mackennal.

1936 is known as the 'Year of the Three Kings', when the throne passed from King George V to his eldest son, King Edward VIII, who abdicated in favour of his brother, King George VI. Despite this turbulence, the Royal Mint only struck Threepences in George V's name in 1936.
