Buy a 1933 Threepence

Silver Threepence struck in 1933: the same year that Winston Churchill warned Britons of the dangers of German rearmament as Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany.

The reverse of these coins features a distinctive design composed of interlinked oak leaves and acorns. Designed by George Kruger Gray, this motif was only used on Threepences struck late in the reign of King George V whose coinage portrait by Bertram Mackennal appears on the obverse.

  • The Royal Mint issued some 5,578,541 Threepences for circulation in 1933
  • These coins are made from .500 (50%) silver as was standard during the interwar years
