A collectable hammered silver Groat of king Henry the Fifth, struck at the mint of London. Henry V’s reign was short (1413 to 1422) but he’s noted for his military success, immortalised in Shakespeare’s Henry plays. The obverse features a type C, ‘frowning face’ bust of the king with a distinctive ‘mullet’ on the right shoulder, the effigy contained within a tressure of arcs. The reverse shows a long cross with three pellets in each quarter and the wording for the London mint in the inner circle. Spink 1765.
