Buy a 1189-1199 Richard I Hammered Silver Penny Stivene on London

A hammered silver Penny of king Richard the First, otherwise known as Richard the Lionheart. Struck by the moneyer Stivene at the mint of London between the years 1189 to 1199. This coin of class 4a of the short cross type was struck bearing the name of ‘HENRICUS’ throughout Richard I’s reign. The obverse, typical of class 4, has a very crude crowned, forward-facing bust. The reverse shows the short cross with four pellets in the quarters and the wording around for the moneyer and mint. These coins are fascinating to collect, due to the number of mints and moneyers producing them. Spink 1348A, North 968/1.
Grade: Grade: VG - Slightly uneven mid to dark toning on pretty much full flan, legends fairly clear, short cross and bust rather blundered but nether the less a collectible coin
