Silver Hammer Cross type penny of Edward the Confessor, struck at Hastings by the moneyer Brid. Obverse shows crowned and draped bust, facing right, extending to the edge of the coin. The legend around reads ‘+ EADPAR RD RE’. Reverse features a voided short cross, each limb terminating in sword-hilt or hammer shapes. No inner circle. Legend: ‘+ BRID:ON HAESTI’, divided by cross. 1.22 grams of .925 silver, diameter: 19.1 millimetres. Grade: VF - Neat round flan, struck with worn dies, very fine and pleasing. Spink 1182, North 828.
