Twelve-sided 1942 UK Threepence coin struck in durable nickel-brass with a portrait of King George VI by Humphrey Paget.
Minted in a year of escalating global conflict, 1942 saw Britain under continued wartime strain, with the Second World War expanding across North Africa and the Pacific. To preserve silver for the war effort, the Royal Mint produced an enormous 103,214,400 brass Threepences for circulation (the highest mintage in the series).
