1926 Halfcrown Unmodified Portrait George V Silver Coin

1926 second coinage Halfcrowns with the first, un-modified coin portrait of King George V by Australian engraver Edgar Bertram Mackennal.

In this year, Halfcrowns were struck with both this original effigy and an updated bust, with the position of Mackennal's initials being the clearest identifier of the two types. This portrait is paired with George William de Saulles' crowned and gartered shield of arms reverse.

• On this type, the 'B.M.' initials have stops and are shown towards the centre of the truncation, though wear obliterates this detail all but the highest grade coins
• In the 1926 calendar year, the Royal Mint struck a total of 4,473,516 Halfcrowns in solid .500 silver
