Collectible silver Sixpence of Queen Victoria, dated 1885. Obverse: features type A5 uncrowned, left-facing portrait bust, original by William Wyon: longer waves, no lock of hair on cheek, bound with double fillet. Legend reads: VICTORIA DEI GRATIA BRITANNIAR : REG : F : D :’. Reverse: ‘SIX PENCE’ in centre with crown above, surrounded by wreath of oak and laurel leaves, tied at the bottom with a ribbon. Date (1885) below though no die number. The engraver behind this design is Jean Baptiste Merlen. Edge: milled. Weight: 2.83 grams, diameter: 19.3 millimetres. Grade: AEF - Light tone with a hint of colour and some minor surface marks and hairlines visible under magnification - around Extremely Fine. Spink 3912.
