A collectable and rare silver Shilling of King Charles the Second, with a counter-stamp of ‘WR’ on the reverse, dated 1681. The reverse features the second draped bust of the king facing right with the counter stamp either side, the legend has the rare variant of A over A & L over I in CARLOVS and no stop after HIB on the reverse listed as R3 in Spink. An opportunity to obtain a rare numismatic variation with a further intriguing counter stamp.

Reverse

Crowned cruciform shields of royal arms, garter star at the centre with interlinked ‘C’s in the angles, date split by crown.  MAG.BR.FRA.ET.HIB.REX date.

Grade

AVF - A medium grey even tone with the obverse better, overstep ‘WR’ reverse weak on second part of date, otherwise a very rare coin.
