Buy a 1671 Charles II Crown Vicesimo Tertio

A collectable silver Crown of King Charles the Second dated 1679. The obverse features the third laureate, draped bust - much larger and broader than the second bust - facing right. This is the first year in which this bust is used. The reverse shows crowned cruciform shields around a central garter star, the shields representing England, Scotland, Ireland and France. Interlinked Cs appear in the angles of the shields. The edge features lettering in Latin for the regnal year - ‘VICESIMO TERTIO’. These early Crowns struck, in the first decade of milled coinage production, make an excellent and affordable starting point for a collection. S 3358.
