Milled silver pattern Farthing of Charles II, dated 1655 with scarcer 1b+A dies.. Obverse: features a laureate bust of Charles II with shorter hair wearing Roman armour and facing left. Legend reads: ‘QVATVOR · MA | RIA · VINDICO’ with ‘BRITANNIA’ below ground. Edge: vertical milled, toothed border. These early milled pattern coins are attributed to John Roettiers (1631-1703). This example weighs 5.52 grams and has a diameter of 24.2 millimetres. Grade: GF - Some background cleaning marks visible under magnification, otherwise Good Fine. BMC (Peck) 413.
