Buy a 1464-1470 Edward IV Brass Half Ryal Rose Noble Coin Weight

Double-sided copper-alloy coin weight for Edward the Fourth Half Ryal or Rose Noble. Weights like this were used to ensure that coins were of good quality with the denomination indicated by the design. The ship and rose motif is particularly clear on this example. This design mirrors the distinctive obverse design of Ryals and Half Ryals from Edward IV’s light coinage, minted between 1464 and 1470, during his first reign. These coins were known as Rose Nobles for the rose that appears in the waves below the ship. This weight was crafted in Antwerp - per the hand symbol to the reverse - and weighs 3.6 grams. An intriguing and attractive piece.
