Annulet issue gold Noble from the early years of Henry VI’s first reign: 1422-1430. It’s the annulet by the sword arm of the figure on the the obverse that identifies this issue. The crowned figure also holds a quartered shield of royal arms and stands in a ship at sea. The design is enclosed within a beaded circle, cut by the masts of the ship. Legend around with trefoil stops: ‘H ENRIC’ DI x’ GRA x’ REX x ANGL x’ Z x FRANC x’ DNS x HYB’. A lis mint mark appears after the king’s name. The reverse has a central ‘H’ from which extends an ornamental cross with lis terminals. Crowns over lions appear in the angles. The design is enclosed within a beaded and linear tressure. Most of the angles are occupied by trefoils with the exception of the first (one o’clock) which has an annulet. Lis mint mark and legend reading: IhC * AVT ◦ TRANSIENS ◦ PER ◦ MEDIUM ◦ ILLORV ◦’ IBAT’. Composed of 6.98 grams of 22 carat gold with a diameter of approximately 32.8 millimetres. Grade: GVF - Good full flan with plenty of sharp detail and a superb kingly portrait. Minor scuff marks at six o’clock on the reverse. No real issues for a grade of Good Very Fine. 'H' in center of ornate cross, terminating in lis, crowns over lions in angles. Design enclosed within a tressure of arcs, trefoils in most angles, annulet in one at one o'clock. Lis mint mark with legend that reads 'IhC * AVT ◦ TRANSIENS ◦ PER ◦ MEDIUM ◦ ILLORV ◦' IBAT' (annulet stops).

Grade

GVF - Good full flan with plenty of sharp detail and a superb kingly portrait. Minor scuff marks at six o'clock on the reverse. No real issues for a grade of Good Very Fine.
