An NGC graded collectable Prussian silver Thaler of Friedrich Wilhelm IV. His uncrowned portrait appears on the obverse, facing right with an ‘A’ below. The legend reads: ‘FRIEDR. WILHELM IV KOENIG V. PREUSSEN’. Frederick William reigned as King of Prussia from 1840 until his death in 1861, the year after this coin was issued. By this point he was incapacitated and his brother - later Wilhelm I - was serving as regent. The reverse features the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Prussia: an eagle, displayed, holding an orb and sceptre in its talons with a chain of office around its neck. A crown appears above. The legend reads: ‘EIN VEREINSTHALER XXX EIN PFUND FEIN 1860’. Edge: incuse lettering reading ‘GOTT MIT UNS’. Weight: 18.52 grams. Composition: .900 silver. Diameter: 33.00 millimetres.
