Buy a 1825 King George IV Silver Halfcrown Coin NGC Graded MS 61

from
£499.00
Graded British silver Halfcrown of George IV, dated 1825. The obverse by engraver William Wyon features his bare head portrait of the king with the date below. It’s a very flattering portrait of a monarch who was, by this time, overweight and unwell. He came to the throne after nearly a decade as regent for his father, George III, in 1820 and ruled until his death in 1830. The reverse, designed by Jean Baptiste Merlen, shows an elaborately garnished Shield of royal arms, surmounted by a crowned helmet. The shield shows the British royal arms with those of the House of Hanover in the centre. Below the shield appears a scroll with the motto of the Order of the Garter. This superb, high-grade silver 1825 Halfcrown with its splendid ornamental and lavishly detailed reverse is an excellent historic example. Weight: 14.14 grams. Diameter: 32.00 millimetres. Grade: MS 61 by NGC (ref: 6029966-016). References: S 3809, D 191.
