Issued by The Royal Mint to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, this 2024 1/4oz gold proof coin is part of a limited edition of just 500.
On 6 June 1944, Allied forces launched the largest amphibious invasion in history, landing on the beaches of Normandy under intense enemy fire. The operation, known as D-Day, began the liberation of France and paved the way for Allied victory in Western Europe.

Coins in The Royal Mint's D-Day range feature an exclusive reverse designed by David Lawrence showing troops on the beaches wading ashore with 'D-DAY 6 JUNE 1944' above and 'UTAH OMAHA GOLD JUNO SWORD' below.
The obverse of this D-Day coin displays Martin Jennings definitive coinage portrait of King Charles III, together with an inscription that reads 'CHARLES III · D · G · REX · F · D · 25 · POUNDS · 2024 ·'.
This £25 collectors coin is made from 7.80 grams of 999.9 (24-carat) gold, equivalent to a quarter of a troy ounce of pure precious metal. The proof finish results in mirrored surfaces that contrast with the frosted design details.
The Royal Mint authorised the release of just 500 of these 1/4oz gold proof D-Day coins, produced in partnership with the Imperial War Museums to commemorate eighty years since the Normandy landings.
This is a pre-owned UK coin, supplied in the original Mint packaging which includes a glossy wood display box, protective cardboard cases, an information booklet and a numbered certificate of authenticity.
