2011 Cardiff One Pound Gold Proof Capital Cities Coin

The capital city of Wales is celebrated on this 2011 gold proof One Pound coin from The Royal Mint's Capital Cities £1 collection.

The reverse displays the distinctive coat of arms of the city of Cardiff, showing the red dragon of Wales holding a banner and a flowering leek. Like the other coins in the Capital Cities series, this design is the work of Stuart Devlin. His work is paired with Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, shown on the obverse.
