This 1993 Sovereign set includes the following three gold proof coins, plus a gold-plated medal:
1993 Sovereigns feature Raphael Maklouf's third definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on their obverse, as used on UK currency from 1985 to 1997. The inscriptions read 'ELIZABETH II DEI · GRA · REG · F · D ·'.
Benedetto Pistrucci's classic Saint George and the dragon motif is seen on the reverse of each of the three coins in this set and looks stunning on the larger pieces. The date (1993) is shown below with the artist's initials to the right.
The three Sovereigns in this 1993 set are struck to historic specifications in solid 22-carat gold with a premium proof finish. In total, the three coins offer an actual gold weight of 25.62 grams or 0.8237 troy ounces of precious metal.
While the certificate included with this pre-owned set suggests a limited edition presentation of 1,250, records indicate that just 663 of these sets were actually issued by The Royal Mint. Yours comes boxed with its certificate.
