Century 1866 Jersey Ship Building series gold proof £1 coin, struck at The Royal Mint. This commemorative 22-carat gold piece is from a series commission to celebrate the history of Jersey shipbuilding in the 19th century. Designed by Robert Evans, this piece features the brigantine Century, a two-masted ship launched in 1866 and built by Daniel Le Vesconte of First Tower, named to mark 100 years of C Robin and Co. The obverse displays a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Just 122 of these gold coins were issued by The Royal Mint though silver proof coins are fairly numerous. This sought-after piece is supplied in the original leather case, complete with a numbered certificate of authenticity.

The obverse shows Arnold Machin's elegant second definitive coinage portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, facing right, with the date (1993) below and 'QUEEN ELIZABETH THE SECOND' around.

22-Carat Gold One Pound

This Jersey One Pound coin is struck in 19.65 grams of solid 22-carat (91.67% fine) gold with a proof finish, measuring 22.5 millimetres in diameter. The edge is milled and inscribed with the words 'CAESARE INSULA'.

Struck by The Royal Mint, this Jersey coin is a limited-edition piece with just 122 known to have been issued, out of a maximum of 250. This example is supplied in the original box of issue with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
