The dual-dated 1992-1993 50p coin was issued to mark two significant milestones: the United Kingdom's Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the European Community in 1992 and the launch of the European Single Market on 1 January 1993. The Royal Mint produced just 1,864 of these commemorative Fifty Pence coins in 22-carat gold with a fine proof finish. The reverse design, created by Mary Milner Dickens, features twelve stars and chairs symbolising the European Community. This is paired with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. Available as a pre-owned coin, it comes in the original Royal Mint case with a numbered certificate of authenticity and makes an attractive addition to any collection of gold proof coins.
