This is an old-style 'large' UK Fifty Pence, made before the size of these coins was reduced. It weighs 26.32 grams and is composed of solid 22-carat gold, measuring 30.00 millimetres in diameter with an attractive proof finish.
The Royal Mint authorised the release of 2,500 of these gold European Council Presidency 50p coins, but records show that just 1,864 were actually issued. Our pre-owned examples are supplied in the original presentation case with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed.
