Limited edition complete 1985 gold proof Sovereign set from The Royal Mint. This early date UK Sovereign set includes a gold Five Sovereign, Double Sovereign, 'full' Sovereign and Half Sovereign, all dated 1985. This was the year that Raphael Maklouf's third coin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was first used on British currency, and all four coins display the effigy, paired with the instantly recognisable image of Saint George, slaying a dragon. In total, the coins in this set offer just over two troy ounces of pure precious metal. With just 5,849 known to have been issued, full 1985 sets in excellent condition can be hard to come by. This example is supplied in the original Royal Mint case, accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity. A key addition to any Sovereign set collection.
