The detailed reverse of this 1982 coin features a design by Leslie Lindsay inspired by Viking armour and weapons of the 9th to 13th centuries, incorporating a winged helmet, a breastplate, broadswords, spears, battle axes and daggards, as well as a shield showing the 'lymphard' - a Viking galley. The number '20' is shown below.
This is a seven-sided coin, similar in size and shape to a UK 20p coin, measuring 21.40 millimetres in diameter. This edition is struck in 10.00 grams of 22-carat gold with a proof finish.
This gold 20p coin is from a limited edition issue of 1,500, released by The Pobjoy Mint in cooperation with the Isle of Man Government in 1984. This pre-owned example comes in a flocked red box with the coin sealed inside a built-in capsule. A folded certificate of authenticity is also included.
