Gold-proof 1982 Isle of Man 20p coin with a fantastic Viking arms and armour design. This Manx 20p coin was released the same year that the first UK Twenty Pence coins were put into circulation. Produced by the Pobjoy Mint, this 22-carat gold coin is a premium piece from a range designed for collectors that also includes silver and diamond-finish coins. The reverse, created by Leslie Lindsay, incorporates a shield with the Viking gallery emblem, an old Isle of Man symbol that predates the triskelion. The obverse features Arnold Machin's elegant portrait of Queen Elizabeth II with the date (1982) below. Just 1,500 of these coins were issued by Pobjoy, and this example comes in its original red case of issue with a certificate of authenticity enclosed.

The detailed reverse of this 1982 coin features a design by Leslie Lindsay inspired by Viking armour and weapons of the 9th to 13th centuries, incorporating a winged helmet, a breastplate, broadswords, spears, battle axes and daggards, as well as a shield showing the 'lymphard' - a Viking galley. The number '20' is shown below.

This is a seven-sided coin, similar in size and shape to a UK 20p coin, measuring 21.40 millimetres in diameter. This edition is struck in 10.00 grams of 22-carat gold with a proof finish.
