Below Otto Schulz's classic portrait of Paul Kruger on this 1967 restrike Krugerrand is a mintmark that reads '(LT) SARB 2017' for the South African Reserve Bank. The legend above reads 'SUID-AFRIKA · SOUTH AFRICA'.
Coert Steynberg's classic springbok design is shown on the reverse of this reissue coin with 'KRUGERRAND' above, the date (1967) divided, and 'FYNGOUD 1/4 OZ FINE GOLD' below. A 50th-anniversary mintmark can be seen in the field above the antelope.
Like other Krugerrands, this coin is struck in 33.93 grams of 22-carat gold, offering a pure gold content of 31.10 grams or one full troy ounce. This 2017 coin measures 32.69 millimetres in diameter from milled edge to milled edge and boasts a high-shine-proof finish with no frosted areas.
The South African Mint issued just 1,967 of these 1967 reissue 1oz Krugerrands in 2017 as part of its 50th-anniversary collection. This pre-owned example comes in its original presentation case with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed.
