Limited edition reissue of the 1967 Krugerrand, struck to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this iconic gold coin. This South African coin, struck in 2017, is distinguished in several minor respects from the original 1967 issue. First, the reverse features a special 50th-anniversary mintmark above the springbok. Second, the obverse displays a South African Reserve Bank 'SARB 2017' mark below the bust of Paul Kruger. Third, on this reissue, the devices (the portrait and the antelope) do not feature the frosted finish typical of proof Krugerrands. Instead, the whole coin has a high-shine proof finish. Like other proof 1oz Krugerrands, however, this one is struck in 33.93 grams of 22-carat gold, offering exactly one troy ounce of precious metal. This highly collectable 50th-anniversary piece - one of just 1,967 struck - comes in its original presentation case from the SA Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity enclosed.
