The royal portrait seen on the obverse of this Melbourne mint coin is the work of George William de Saulles' whose effigy was used on all Edward VII Sovereigns. The legend aorund reads 'EDWARDVS VII D: G: BRITT: OMN: REX F: D: IND: IMP:'.
An 'M' mintmark can be found on the ground below the image of Saint George slaying a dragon on the reverse of this 1909 coin. This engraving is the work of Benedetto Pistrucci, whose initials appear to the right of the date.
