Sydney Mint Coin Struck In 22-Carat Gold
Branch mint Sovereigns like these are struck to the same specifications as their London mint counterparts. Composed of 22-carat gold, they measure 22.05 millimetres in diameter and weigh approximately 7.98 grams each.
How Many 1875-S Sovereigns Were Minted?
Records show that 2,122,000 Sovereigns were issued by the Sydney mint in 1875. In this high-mintage year both the St George design and the crowned shield reverse were struck and the mintage figure includes both issues.
