A collectable gold milled Third Guinea of King George the Third, dated 1804. Third Guineas were only minted during George III’s reign, introduced in 1797. The obverse features the laureate head of George - the second type used for this denomination, introduced in this year. The reverse shows a crown with the date - 1804 - below. Earlier issues include a reverse legend that speaks to George’s claim to the French throne which was relinquished at the time the parliaments of Great Britain and Ireland became united (1801).
