A collectable gold Half Guinea of King George the Second, dated 1752. The obverse features the old laureate head of George II, facing left. The reverse shows the crowned ornate shield of royal arms, showing England/Scotland, France, Hanover and Ireland with the crown dividing the date. Both sides of this gold coin were designed by Royal Mint Chief Engraver John Croker. Half Guineas were first introduced in 1669 and would be eliminated in the Great Recoinage of 1816. An excellent Georgian coin.
