A collectable gold full Guinea of King George the First, dated 1723. The obverse features the fourth type laureate bust of George I, facing right, with a distinctive loop in his bottom hair tie. The obverse shows cruciform shields around a central garter star with sceptres in the angles bearing national emblems. The value of a guinea had fluctuated over the years but became officially fixed at 21 shillings in 1717, the year Great Britain adopted the gold standard.

F - A few heavy edge knocks and dinks, no signs of been mounted, two scratches to the obverse head, generally small scratches and 'grainy' possibly a metal detecting find otherwise Fine.
