Buy a 1668 Charles II Guinea

A collectable gold full Guinea of King Charles II, dated 1668. The obverse features the third laureate bust of Charles the Second, facing right, designed by John Roettier. The reverse shows crowned cruciform shields, bearing arms representing England, Scotland, Ireland and France, with sceptres in the angles and interlinked ‘C’s at the centre. This Guinea is among the earliest British milled coinage, machine minting superseding the ancient hammering process in 1663. Additionally, the coin is one of the first Guineas struck, only five years after this denomination was introduced. Guineas were so named because the gold used in their production was initially sourced from Guinea, West Africa.
