To mark the transition, The Royal Mint issued this collectors' set which includes both an old, large-size 10p and a new, smaller-size coin. They feature the classic crowned lion design, traditionally used on UK Ten Pence coins, created by Christopher Ironside, paired with Raphael Maklouf's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse. The first British Ten Pence coins, introduced in 1968, were designed to be the same size as the old Florin, weighing 11.31 grams and measuring 28.5 millimetres in diameter. In 1992, the 10p was resized to be lighter (6.5 grams) and smaller (24.5 millimetres), and the older coins were withdrawn.
