1999 Stymphalian Birds Two Pound Circulated Labours Of Hercules Gibraltar Coin

1999 Gibraltar £2 coin depicting the Stymphalian Birds - the sixth coin in the popular Labours of Hercules series, struck between 1997 and 2000.

Driving away the Stymphalian Birds was Hercules' sixth labour. These man-eating birds had overrun Lake Stymphalia in Arcadia. Hercules used a bronze rattle gifted by the goddess Athena to startle them into flight, before bringing them down with his bow and arrows.
