1990 Queen Mother's 90th Birthday Five Pound Coin

The first commemorative Five Pound coins, issued to celebrate Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother's 90th birthday in 1990.

Issued by The Royal Mint, these £5s are a tribute to the Queen Mum's popularity and life of public service. They feature a portrait of Elizabeth's daughter, Queen Elizabeth II, paired with a reverse showing her crowned cypher, flanked by a rose and a thistle, by silversmith Leslie Durbin.
